Helping the underdog

Philanthropy is my ultimate goal, it is my life's work to provide a chance for the underdog. Where money can help, there's nothing like donating time to show dedication and value to the community that did the same to provide me with such opportunities. Community Service and social work makes the world a smaller place. Poverty and illness anywhere are a threat to prosperity and health everywhere.

Charities in general are important to me. As we get caught up in capitalism and technology, it is easy to forget the important things that make life worth living - each other. I think health charities like cancer societies and HIV awareness associations are great because not only do they advocate for cures, but they build alliances and offer support to victims, and families in the process.

I donate to Michigan Learning Communities when I can. When I was a student it was called UROP and I now have a full time job in research because of the experiences they provided me. I speak on their panels when I can, and am active in the community volunteering as a mentor, walking in health benefits, and sponsoring families for the holidays in the National Association of University Women.
