Sunday Morning in Deep Waters
Acquired in 1940 and positioned on Ingalls Mall between The Michigan League and Burton Tower, this prominent piece of public art was a gift from former athletic director and graduate of the Class of 1895 Charles Baird to honor the memory of Thomas M. Cooley, professor and dean of the Law School. The bronze piece was created by Carl Milles, a renowned Swedish sculptor during his residency at Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills.
